Growing in Faith

The Lay Pastoral Ministry Institute (LPMI) is a program of Ministry Formation sponsored by the Diocese of St. Petersburg. The aim of the Institute is to assist the laity in the development of the knowledge skills they need for a variety of roles in the ministry.

Twelve Aims of the Lay Pastoral Ministry Institute

To prepare men and women for committed parish lay leadership.
To motivate baptized Catholics in the diocese to discern and use their gifts in service of others.
To offer contemporary education and faith formation in the Roman Catholic faith.
To provide formative and varied spiritual experiences.
To link people to diocesan resources.
To network leaders with peers and professionals across the diocese.
To offer a positive experience of the diocesan and global Church.
To empower people to own and live their baptism in all arenas of life.
To foster a deeper sense of appreciation for the ministry of priests.
To teach teamwork, lifelong learning, collaboration, and team skills.
To affect family life by modeling to children a living faith.
To deepen the faith, intensify the prayer life and elevate the self-esteem of its participants.
